Keith Mitchell is a veteran in the field of tax accounting and is the Principal of the MIS Tax Pros accounting firm. Keith eliminates tax problems. Keith has a unique skill set since he has both a tax accounting and an information systems background. Keith has worked with several of the top-ten accounting firms in and around Dallas, TX during the last 23 years. Keith has attained the highly sought after and prestigious Enrolled Agent designation from the United States Department of the Treasury. He has dealt with complex issues in many facets of tax law application. This makes him a technical tax practitioner to be reckoned with. He applies his tenacious character to helping his Clients find a way out of their IRS nightmare. Keith is an indispensable, integral, and highly valuable asset to the MIS Tax Pros team of professionals. Keith strives to maintain the highest degree of professionalism when dealing with his Clients and the IRS.
One day, an appreciative Client called Keith a ‘hero’ after he helped get a tax bill drastically reduced. He didn’t think much of it at the time, although it brought a smile to his face. Soon afterwards, another Client used the word ‘hero’ as well when thanking him for getting their case settled. Keith mentioned this over dinner with his family and his young son said, “Daddy, you’re the Tax Hero.” It stuck.
Keith earned the Master of Science in Taxation from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1993 and the Master of Science in Information Systems from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1998. Keith served as an adjunct professor for The University of Texas at Arlington teaching a senior level class on distributed computing. His Master’s Thesis entitled, “STRUCTURED SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT FOR AN INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER USING A MODIFIED SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE APPROACH INCLUDING ANALYSIS, DESIGN, AND IMPLEMENTATION,” can be found in the library there. Keith’s thesis was used by the University of Houston when designing their connectivity system there in the late 1990’s. Keith was nominated for “The University of Texas at Arlington Top Ten Graduates of All Time” award in 2000.
Keith served honorably as a paratrooper with the élite 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army in the years before completing his college education. He was awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal and earned the highly coveted 82nd Airborne Division’s Distinguished Trooper Award two times during his military service.
When he isn’t glued to a computer screen, Keith tries very hard not be the worst guitar player in Texas. Keith also still enjoys playing basketball when not working in the tax practice. Keith has also been known to go fishing with his favorite people.
Pictures of Keith’s graduate degrees are shown here so you can see that he isn’t one of those made-up people on the Internet.
